Dearest DIna, there are no words, and the heart is a heart sending love to you today. I am so sorry for your indescribable loss and my US friends, including those I have had the privilege of meeting and making here, are so very much in my thoughts today, here in the UK. Thank you for sharing your heart and your words.
Oh, Dina. Such a poignant piece. I’m so glad something moved you to take the day off, and so sad that Lucy was there, along with so many others who each had their own lives and loved ones. The loss is incalculable. It’s hard to make any sense of it at all, the ways humans hurt one another. I am thankful that your writing has found its way in the world, and especially grateful that it found its way to me. I deeply appreciate all your shares. Much love.
Skylar, your words mean so much to me - especially knowing first hand the incredible writer and human being you are and the difference you make in this world - bringing solace to women by opening up and sharing your vulnerability. Thank you so much for reading and for the gifts you give us here. Appreciate you immensely.
A beautiful, powerful reflection- thank you for sharing. I have chills thinking about your decision the day earlier to take off. And also when I think about you losing your friend. So tragic- I’m so sorry.
I had just moved to NYC in July of 2001 and in those first months used to run down the West Side Highway with those amazing towers in the foreground thinking how lucky I felt to be in this incredibly city. I watched the horror unfold from my office across the river in Newark, where I worked at the time. The memories are still so vivid. I now walk past the memorial often and think about the sacredness of that ground and the way life as we knew it forever changed on that day…
I am so appreciative that you too the time to your story here and thank you for the kind words. We all have such vivid recollections and heartbreaking memories of that day. It is so hard to believe how much time has passed.
Your essay gives me goose bumps. I think for so many of us who lived in the NY area- or may still- we share these types of stories. Never forget.
Thank you Kristin so much for reading and taking the time to write a comment. I appreciate it and I can not thank you enough.
